The fear of Trump

Haitian migrants who inundated Springfield, Ohio, under the Biden administration have begun to self-deport themselves in the face of imminent mass deportations under the incoming Trump administration.

Over 20,000 Haitians were flown into the small town of Springfield under the auspices of Joe Biden’s 2022 temporary humanitarian parole program allowing up to 30,000 asylum-seekers into the U.S. each month from Cuba, Haiti, Nicaragua and Venezuela combined.

But now, fearing mass deportations planned by the incoming Trump administration, the Haitian migrants have reportedly begun to flee the city, according to CBS News.

“Many are now leaving the city fearing deportation,” host Norah O’Donnell said Monday before sharing the testimony of a Haitian cook who’s scared to be deported.
