HOLD BACK THE PAYCHECKS

How sad that our elected State officials have refused to budge on the budget while kids are suffering as money for education is being held up as the elite politicians, Democrats and Republicans can't figure out how to work together. THEY SEEM TO WORK TOGETHER PRETTY GOOD ALLOWING THEMSELVES TO GET PAID. Here is a novel idea, hold back on their paychecks as well. They should feel the pain as well.

CREDIT CARD ACCOUNTABILITY

August 21, 2009

Dear Friend,

I am pleased to announce that the first provisions of the Credit Card Accountability Responsibility and Disclosure Act (Credit CARD Act) went into effect yesterday as part of a reform package that will help protect consumers from excessive credit card fees, retroactive interest rate hikes and, unfair, incomprehensible agreements that credit card companies revise at will. This bill, also known as the Credit Card Holders Bill of Rights, will end the unfair practices of the credit card industry and protect consumers from the abusive tactics that have driven so many Americans deeper and deeper into debt.

The Credit CARD Act is first and foremost about fairness for average Americans and consumers who play by the rules but are struggling to make ends meet. These consumers deserve to be treated fairly and honestly by their credit card companies, not hit with fees and interest rate hikes that drive them deeper into debt.

The Credit CARD Act included an amendment I introduced with Representative Susan Davis (D-CA). The Davis-Carney Amendment, which enjoyed broad bi-partisan support, requires credit card companies to notify consumers 30 days before closing a person's credit card account and provide information about keeping the account open.

The people who work hard and play by the rules deserve fair treatment from their credit card companies. The Davis-Carney amendment gives Americans the information and rights they need to make decisions about their financial lives. Under current law, people who are disciplined with their credit cards and may only use them in case of an emergency can have their card canceled without notice. That cancellation negatively affects their credit score and that is unfair. My amendment is a common sense solution that protects the consumer from this unfair practice.

As of August 20:
o Credit card companies must provide written notice to consumers at least 45 days in advance of any increases in the interest rate or other significant changes in the terms of a credit card account.
o Credit card companies must inform consumers of their right to cancel the card before rate hikes go into effect.
o Credit card companies must send statements to consumers 21 days before the due date of any payments.

Come February, many of the new law's remaining provisions will kick in, including and ban on double-cycle billing and rate hikes on existing balances.

The bipartisan Credit CARD Act brings common sense reform and consumer protections to our financial system and is part of our long-term plan to rebuild our economy in a way that is consistent with our values of responsibility and hard work, not high-flying finance schemes.

Sincerely,
Christopher P. Carney

A QUESTION FOR CONGRESS.

Here are some real questions from a good friend, not only for our Congressman, Carney, but for all of the members.

Hey Tim,

Do me a favor when your at this meeting on monday. try to ask Carney the following questions if you could squeeze these in.

1.People don't neccessarily want a new healthcare program as much as we want healthcare costs overhauled and justified. the cost of aspirin from the hospital $8.00 per tablet. $2500.00 for a cat scan. etc.

2.How is raising the taxes to pay for the program an answer when we can't afford what we pay now. No one salaries have gone up in relation to how fast inflation is hitting everyone in this economy.

3.Everyone is affraid it is going to be a "pool" system as to what and who gets treated. Perhaps if the healthcare industry was regulated a little better or more than it is, that might help alleviate cost concerns. The coverage didn't seem to be as poor before congress passed the bill that all workers are required by law to have healthcare insurance. I realize that this was done so companies would supply benifits to their employees, but companies have found the cheapest and least coverage to save money and are hurting the employee.

4.How can the gov. guarantee that the administrators of this new lan are not going to play"God"? This seems to be the biggest concern especially if someone has a life threating disease. what is the criteria that needs to be met in order to get coverage? Age, race, male, female, etc.

I know these seem ridiculous but what has been put on papers for years has been subject to interpretation. Isn't that why we have the supreme court, to interpret laws.

5. Why is does healthcare reform need to be 1000 pages long that only a Philadelphia lawyer can figure out. Once again, by trying to be politically correct, we've managed to offend everyone.

As I recall, healthcare reform has been an on going quandy for the folks in Washington. Former President Clinton ran on that platform for his first term. Mrs. Clinton was suppose to fix it. I don't recall her doing much about it and that was 17 years ago!

Thanks, And please don't get arrested!!!

SOME OF THE BAILOUT MONEY

Here is where some of the bailout money is going!!

HR 1288 Passes Committee

For those of you who missed this. You need to at least know.

Something happened... H.R. 1388 was passed yesterday, behind
our backs. You may want to read about it. It wasn't
mentioned on the news... just went by on the ticker tape at
the bottom of the CNN screen.
Obama funds $20M in tax payer dollars to immigrate Hamas
Refugees to the USA . This is the news that didn't make the
headlines...
By executive order, President Barack Obama has ordered the
expenditure of $20.3 million in "migration assistance" to
the Palestinian refugees and "conflict victims" in Gaza .
The "presidential determination", which allows hundreds of
thousands of Palestinians with ties to Hamas to resettle in
the United States , was signed on January 27 and appeared in
the Federal Register on February 4.
Few on Capitol Hill, or in the media, took note that the
order provides a free ticket replete with housing and food
allowances to individuals who have displayed their
overwhelming support to the Islamic Resistance Movement
(Hamas) in the parliamentary election of January 2006.
Let's review...itemized list of some of Barack Obama's most
recent actions since his inauguration:
His first call to any head of state, as president, was to
Mahmoud Abbas, leader of Fatah party in the Palestinian
territory.
His first one-on-one television interview with any news
organization was with Al Arabia television.
His first executive order was to fund/facilitate abortion(s)
not just here within the U. S. , but within the world, using
U. S. tax payer funds.
He ordered Guantanamo Bay closed and all military trials of
detainees halted.
He ordered overseas CIA interrogation centers closed.
He withdrew all charges against the masterminds behind the
USS Cole and the "terror attack" on 9/11.
Now we learn that he is allowing hundreds of thousands of
Palestinian refuges to move to, and live in, the US at
American taxpayer expense.
These important, and insightful, issues are being "lost" in
the blinding bail-outs and "stimulation" packages.
Doubtful? To verify this for yourself:

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
August 3, 2009

PITTSBURGH SUMMIT VENUES
The President and First Lady look forward to welcoming world leaders to the Pittsburgh Summit September 24-25. The White House is working closely with state and local officials to plan for a successful and productive meeting. At the Pittsburgh Summit, President Obama and leaders representing 85 percent of the world’s economy will assess progress made since the Washington and London G-20 Summits and discuss further steps to achieve a sound and sustainable recovery from the global financial and economic crisis.

White House staff and State Department officials will return to Pittsburgh this week to continue planning for the summit. Countries and organizations participating in the Pittsburgh Summit have been invited to send representatives to tour Pittsburgh, the David L. Lawrence Convention Center which will be the primary home of the summit, and additional event sites on Tuesday, August 4th.

Phipps Conservatory and Botanical Gardens:
The President and First Lady look forward to welcoming leaders, their spouses and officials to Pittsburgh at the city’s Phipps Conservatory and Botanical Gardens. After welcoming the leaders and spouses, President Obama and world leaders will remain at the conservatory for a working dinner. Known as “the Green Heart of Pittsburgh,” Phipps’ earth-sheltered Welcome Center was the first LEED-certified building in a public garden. Its newest addition, the Tropical Forest Conservatory, is the world’s most energy efficient conservatory and is the only conservatory powered by a solid oxide fuel cell.
David L. Lawrence Convention Center:
Demonstrating the possibilities presented by employing new and innovative technology to further economic recovery and development, the Pittsburgh Summit will be held at the David L. Lawrence Convention Center in downtown Pittsburgh. The facility was the first “green” convention center in the world to be awarded the LEED® Gold Certification by the U.S. Green Building Council for leadership in energy and environmental design.
Rosemont Farm:
The First Lady is looking forward to welcoming and hosting the Pittsburgh Summit spousal program. Following the leaders reception, the program will kick off with a private dinner for spouses at the farm of well known Pittsburgh philanthropist Teresa Heinz. The farm is set in the rolling hills just outside of Pittsburgh and will serve as a beautiful and intimate place for the spouses to gather. Rosemont Farm is a fully working farm where they grow their own fruits and vegetables and raise cows, chickens and produce their own fresh eggs.

Creative & Performing Arts School (“CAPA”):
Stemming from the White House's commitment to and encouragement of arts education for young people, Mrs. Obama will share with her counterparts the outstanding arts education opportunities afforded to the students of Pittsburgh. The group will tour and view a performance at the Pittsburgh CAPA 6-12 school, located in downtown Pittsburgh’s Cultural District. CAPA, a Creative & Performing Arts public magnet school, enrolls more than 800 full time students who major in dance, instrumental music, vocal music, literary arts, theatre and visual arts. CAPA’s vision, “excellence for all in the arts and academic areas,” is supported by their state of the art facilities and the latest technology.

The Andy Warhol Museum:
The Andy Warhol Museum, located on the north shore of Pittsburgh, will be the setting for a luncheon hosted by the First Lady. The Warhol Museum, one of the four Carnegie Museums of Pittsburgh, houses the definitive collection of art and archives from the renowned 20th century artist Andy Warhol, who was born and raised in Pittsburgh. The museum is known regionally for being a forum for lively, creative community dialogue, and its staff works with educators, students, and community organizations to encourage and enhance learning through the arts. The museum is also known for bringing the work of Andy Warhol to the world through popular traveling exhibitions, which have been viewed by more than six million people throughout the United States, Canada, Europe, and Asia including 15 of the G-20 nations.

POLITICIANS DO NOT GET SOCIAL SECURITY??

IT DOESN'T MATTER IF YOU AREREPUBLICAN OR DEMOCRAT! LET'S KEEP IT GOING!!!!
Propose this in 2009: START A BILL TO PLACE ALL POLITICIANS ON ---------------------------------- SOCIAL SECURITY:

(This is worth reading. It is short and to the point.) Perhaps we are asking the wrong questions during election years. Our Senators and Congresswomen do not pay into Social Security and, of course, they do not collect from it. You see, Social Security benefits were not suitable for persons of their rare elevation in society. They felt they should have a special planfor themselves. So, many years ago they voted in their own benefit plan. In more recent years, no congressperson has felt the need to change it. After all, it is a great plan! For all practical purposes their plan works like this:
When they retire, they continue to draw the same pay until they die. Except it may increase from time to time for cost of living adjustments...
For example, Senator Byrd and Congressman White and their wives may expect to draw
$7, 800,000.00 (that's Seven Million,
Eight-Hundred Thousand Dollars), with their wives drawing $275, 000..00 during the last years of their lives.
This is calculated on an average life span for each of those two Dignitaries. Younger Dignitaries who retire at an early age, will receive much more during the rest of their lives. Their cost for this excellent plan is $0.00.NADA!!! ZILCH!!! This little perk they voted for themselves is free to them. You and I pick up the tab for this plan. The funds for this fine retirement plan come directly from the General Funds; "OUR TAX DOLLARS AT WORK"! From our own Social Security Plan, which you and I pay (or have paid) into, every payday until we retire(which amount is matched by our employer), We can expect to get an average of $1,000 per month after retirement. Or, in other words, we would have to collect our average of $1,000 monthly benefits for 68 years and one (1) month to equal Senator Bill Bradley's benefits! Social Security could be very good if only one small change were made. That change would be to Jerk the Golden Fleece Retirement Plan from under the Senators and Congressmen.. Put them into the Social Security plan with the rest of us Then sit back..... And see how fast they would fix it! If enough people receive this, maybe a seed of awareness will be planted and maybe good changes will evolve. How many people can YOU send this to? Better yet...... How many people WILL you send this to?
